Access to research policies and research related forms is also available.

Research Higher Degree web-based resources
The Faculty has launched a new area of the web site to provide Research Higher Degree (RHD) students and supervisors with access to a range of current information and resources.

Research Strengths
Research groups and facilities have been formed to leverage our research strengths strategically across a number of areas. In particular, the Faculty is involved with four Areas of Strategic Research Investment (ASRIs). These are:

Bioknowledge

Coastal & Catchment Environments

Medical Devices & Technologies

Nanostructures and Molecular Interactions

In addition, each school has particular research strengths in the following areas:

School of Biological Sciences

School of Chemistry, Physics and Earth Sciences School of Computer Science, Engineering & Mathematics The research areas listed above demonstrate links with our specialist niche degrees, and serve to reinforce the Faculty's commitment to a strong connection between teaching and research, as well as open up avenues for higher degree research for graduates.

Research Facilities and Centres

Flinders Analytical
Flinders Analytical is supported by the Faculties of Science & Engineering and Health Sciences, with researchers from biology, chemistry, medicine and physics taking part in activities. It brings together world class expertise in biotechnology, nanotechnology, protein structure and materials science.

The Faculty actively participates in research activities in partnership with a number of other research organisations such as:

Research Administration

The Flinders University Office of Research promotes, fosters and administers quality research activity at Flinders.

Staff are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the guidelines relating to the public disclosure of Intellectual Property.

The Faculty Research Committee administers all aspects of the research portfolio. A list of research policies can be found on the committee home page.

Some research and higher degree research student related administration forms are available for staff, but are only accessible on-campus.

There are a range of forms available for the use of Research Higher Degree students.

Research Practice

The University aims to provide a research environment that will promote a high standard of professional conduct by its researchers, and a culture of research practice that is ethical, competent, safe and accountable.

It has established a policy on Research Practice.

This policy addresses the following specific aspects of the operation of research within the University, in compliance with the Joint NH & MRC/AVCC Statement and Guidelines on Research Practice:
  • research practice within the University
  • requirements for maintaining a safe and ethical research environment
  • conduct of research under commercial and contractual arrangements
  • maintenance of records and retention and storage of research data
  • confidentiality provisions relating to research
  • publication and authorship
  • conduct of research by students
  • conflict of interest; and
  • handling of research misconduct and fraud.
In accordance with the policy on Research Practice, the Faculty of Science and Engineering has appointed:
