Science Innovation Learning Centre (SILC)
A new learning centre is to be built on campus, to further support science teaching at Flinders.
The Centre will provide:
- a focal point for first year students to study and interact in a casual setting
- an information and assistance facility for students in the Faculty
- a functional space for presentations/demonstrations to prospective students and the wider community
Funding arrangements were finalised recently and on 13 March 2008 the University Council gave approval for the project to proceed.
Planning processes are underway and construction of the Centre will commence in the second half of 2008.
The architectural firm Swanbury Penglase has been contracted to manage the project.
Some plans of the Centre are provided below.
