ResearchI’m working on the cladoceran species Cladocera:Daphniopsis australis which is firstly described by Sars in 1903. Typically, all cladoceran members established asexual cyclic parthenogenetic in their life cycle and the population is mainly dominated with female species. However, under undesired environment they will switch into sexual reproduction mode by producing the male individual. To date, there were numerous study emphasize on their diversity, taxonomy as well as phylogeny. However, works on their life history related to ecological requirement and demographic are still scanty.
My study will concern on their life history and their respond toward different environment factors. Investigation will focus to changes of demographic parameters when treated under different ecological parameters. Temperature, salinity type of foods at different levels will be treated on them to get their optimum life condition. This study will hopefully provide basic informations of their requirement especially to establish optimum life condition which is particularly important for mass culture. Hence, this species can be utilized as a potential alternative live food to the larvae of some marine aquaculture species in future. SupervisorDr Jian Qin |
