Academic Qualifications
BiographyFollowing a strong interest in biology and ecology, particularly in the marine area, throughout my childhood and high school education I enrolled in a Bachelor of Science in 1998. I deferred this to undertake a Diploma in Aquaculture in Port Lincoln in 1999. After completing this in 2000 and receiving the Academic Achievement award for the dux of the class, I enrolled in The Bachelor of Technology in Aquaculture at Flinders Uni in 2001. As classes were a mix of aquaculture and other general marine biology, my interest in aquaculture broadened from just the culture of aquatic organisms to the environmental impacts and sustainability of aquaculture.
After completing this degree i undertook a BSc Honours degree in 2003. This was based in Port Lincoln and researched "The Interactions Between Seabirds and Tuna Farms Near Port Lincoln". Upon completion of this, it was apparent that this area required more time and research. In 2004 I began a PhD project researching the same area, but narrowing the research from seabirds in general, to the Silver Gull. This project will be completed in 2007.
