Biography

After high school, I enrolled in a Bachelor of Biotechnology at Flinders University. After three years of course work I had discovered many different aspects of biotechnology, including medical, pharmaceutical, environmental and agricultural. During my Honours year in the School of Biological Sciences at Flinders University I worked on a project, which aimed to develop safer, cheaper and more effective antioxidants for the aquaculture industry. Using cell culture I was able to compare commonly used antioxidants with three novel, natural antioxidants, to see which provided the most protection against oxidative stress. I have commenced a PhD project in the School of Biological Sciences, which will continue looking at the effect of grape seed extracts on live fish, using diet trials enhanced with this natural antioxidant.
