Education Programs - Degrees and Diplomas
Flinders University has
established a
Bachelor of Technology (Aquaculture), which commenced in February
1997. The first higher education course of its kind in South
Australia, this 3-year degree has been developed by the University
with substantial support and involvement from the fishing industry and
TAFE.
The BTech (Aquaculture) is based at the Adelaide campus of Flinders
University, and some of the practical work, field projects, and
workplace training takes place at the Lincoln Marine Science Centre.
The Pt Lincoln TAFE campus deliver
a number of courses in Aquaculture at LMSC, including Certificate
and Diploma level courses (2 years full-time or part-time equivalent).
Students completing the TAFE Diploma may apply to the Faculty of
Science & Engineering
for credit if
seeking to continue their studies at Flinders University.
LMSC students benefit from the use of a variety of state-of-the-art
remote delivery methods including video-conferencing and
internet-based tutorials.
Flinders University also has an extensive
Marine
Biology program, and the LMSC is used as a venue for field
research, honours projects, and summer schools for the marine biology
